Nau mai, haere mai ki te whakarewatanga o te Muriwai o Te Whanga.

Nei ngā hua nā rātou mā i whārikitia hei manako mā tatou ngā uri whakaheke.

You are warmly invited to join us for the official launch and adoption of the Te Muriwai o te Whanga Plan. This is a significant milestone for Mana Ahuriri in taking steps towards revitalising Te Whanganui ā Orotū and Te Muriwai o te Whanga, and in meeting our obligations outlined in the Ahuriri Hapū Claims Settlement Act 2021.

The Te Muriwai o Te Whanga Plan was presented to the whānau at the Mana Ahuriri AGM in December and received unanimous support for its adoption. The next step is for Te Muriwai o Te Whanga Komiti to formally adopt the plan and submit it to the relevant councils and the Department of Conservation. The Plan is a collective document that must be given regard to by decision-makers in regard to resource management policy and consents, local government policy, and conservation management plans and policy that are relevant to Te Muriwai o Te Whanga. Please see a link to the legislation for your reference: https://www.legislation.govt.nz/act/public/2021/0054/latest/LMS300578.html

The next Te Komiti o Te Muriwai o Te Whanga meeting will be held at Waiohiki Marae on Friday, 14 February, at 11 am.

At this hui, we will:

1. Resolve to formally approve the plan.

2. Lodge a copy of the plan to each local authority (Napier City Council, Hastings District Council, Hawke’s Bay Regional Council) and the Director General of the Department of Conservation.

This hui is our opportunity to celebrate the plan’s adoption and launch, followed by a kai tahi. As members of Te Komiti o Te Muriwai o te Whanga, we look forward to your attendance at Waiohiki Marae to celebrate this milestone. Please share this to appropriate members of your organisation and RSVP to info@manaahuriri.org with attendance by Tuesday 4th February.

Hello fencing contractor!

I’m Kelly from DOC, we alongside HBRC are looking to deer fence a significant podocarp remnant at the
Balls Clearing Scenic Reserve in the near future. It is currently surrounded by a stock fence, the land is
largely flat with some gentle hills.

Balls Clearing Walks: Puketitiri area, Hawke’s Bay region
We would like to offer you the opportunity to quote on this work.
It is a minimum of 5km long which will include multiple gate entry’s for farm and pedestrian access and
several flood gate arrangements around waterways (details to be firmed up).

If interested can you please submit:

• Your rates for 1km of fencing.
Posts at 5m separation, strainer every 200m, 13 wire mesh, 1.9m high, 150mm wire with a tight lock.
With an electric outrigger.

• Cost of 1 farm access gate.

• If you are equipped to remove the existing fence line and clear vegetation back where needed, your
relevant rates.

• Confirmation if you have a 3rd party H&S assessment such as Sitewise (additional info attached).
• Your availability throughout May and June 2025.

Note we can provide free accommodation at 100 Hukanui road (about 5 min drive away) if that can reduce
costs.

Also we don’t expect to complete the full reserve by the end of June but hope to achieve most sides, potentially
excluding the roadside edge and part of the northern edge where large exotic trees are present.
We are exploring their removal prior to the new fence going in with other suppliers.
